Perspectives on Business Process Analysis

Archived Webinar

Please join Bob Daniel, Troux Practice Director for Enterprise Business Architecture, as he maps the dimensions of business process analysis within the context of enterprise architecture (EA).

Description:
Business process analysis is central to effective transformation of the enterprise. It achieves its greatest value when performed in the context of the architecture of the enterprise as a whole. Too often, however, business process analysis is narrowly scoped and ignores this wider EA perspective - for example, focusing exclusively on driving efficiencies out of operational business processes. When this happens, process change can result in unanticipated (and unwanted) side effects.

Additionally, process change initiatives have constituencies from across the enterprise. Each has its own areas of concern and language for discussing those concerns. Finding ways of facilitating communication among these groups can be the greatest business process analysis challenge faced.

Please join the hour long discussion as we explore these topics and cover such questions as:

  • How much of the EA do I need to consider in my business process analysis to get benefit?
  • What are the dimensions of business process “optimization”?
  • How should the maturity of my organization's business process analysis capability be considered when planning process transformation initiatives?
  • Should the focus be on representing current processes or defining future ones?
