Service Orientation - The Enterprise Architecture Way
Archived Webinar
You are invited to an informative webinar part of Architecture & Governance Magazines Thought Leadership series. This special online session is presented by George Paras and Tim Westbrock as they explore the relationship between EA and SOA.
Description:
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is gaining momentum as a new IT implementation paradigm. One concern that may constrain the full value of SOA is that organizations eager to capitalize on SOAs benefits are focusing too narrowly on project-specific implementations. The result is often a collection of technology-driven remnants instead of a holistic, business-driven system of integrated services. When SOA is viewed as a “technology” it is often pursued without a clear understanding of how the resulting services fit as part of the larger enterprise architecture. The solution is to view service orientation as one of many means to conceptualize and deliver holistic enterprise architecture, not the other way around. By doing so, the outcome will reflect the true promise of SOA, as a powerful business design paradigm.
As George and Tim explore the relationship between EA and SOA the topics will include:
The meaning behind “enterprise” in “enterprise architecture”
SOA Concepts Simplified — What does it really mean?
Using a “top-down” approach to organize and drive an EA program and its content — Why a “top-down” approach is critical to maximize SOA value
Combining top-down EA approach with grass-roots SOA implementations for a pragmatic roadmap to SOA success
Using an EA Knowledge Base to coordinate an SOA initiative
